emptied more then half of the water out of the tank and cleaned all the decorations in the tank. It is not recommended to change that much water out at a time, but my fish did well with it. We didn't put all cold back in, we felt the tank and then adjusted the temperature of water we were putting in by using hot and cold.
At the same time of the water turning green we had added three new fish and a couple more decorations inside it. Didn't make any since how the water could start turning green the next day after cleaning it. We talked to a person at Petco and he asked us different questions about the tank. He said we could always bring a sample of the water from our tank in to the store, for them to test for us. One of the things he said was did we wash our new rocks before placing them in the tank, the answer was yes, but I didn't realize how well you needed to rinse them.
We came home and took out all of the rocks on the bottom of the tank, twenty pounds, and re-rinsed them. Found out that it was the rocks that were turning the water greenish. Now our tank is very clean again, and looks the way we were going for, when we first got it. Took us awhile because of the cost of the different things we wanted in our tank.
Fish tanks are a little pricey to decorate and buying fish to go in it. Of course this all depends on what you want for decorations and fish. Different fish cost different prices. I have found Petco to be the best deal on fish and I have only had one goldfish die, that we bought from there.

"Was not paid to talk about Petco or compensated in any way, just wanted to share my experience with them, with all of my readers."
